There are certain verses in the Bible that become lifelines that we hold on to with all our strength when the waters of our lives get stormy.
For me, Psalm 61:2 is such a verse:
“From the end of the earth I will cry to You,
When my heart is overwhelmed;
Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”
There’s so much going on around us that’s overwhelming.
As I’m writing this blog in November 2020, we’re eight months into a world-wide pandemic. So many of the things we took for granted less than a year ago have been swept away from under our feet.
Then there are all the other crises that are erupting around us at a dizzying speed – political upheavals, racial tensions, gruesome terror attacks across the world.
Even the conflicting voices within the Christian community itself can be overwhelming.
That’s why I’m dedicating this blog to the Rock that is higher than me.
I thank God that He has the answers. That nothing we experience ever confuses Him or takes Him by surprise. That we can always cry out to Him, and if we quieten our spirits and listen, “deep calls to deep” and we can connect to God’s Holy Spirit within us and experience the “peace that passes all understanding.”
My vision for this blog is to create a space to seek God’s face, to humble myself before the Rock that is higher than I, and to listen to His wisdom above all the voices of the world.
I welcome you to come with me on this journey, to seek God’s face in confusing times and discover the clarity that only comes from hearing His voice in the quiet place.
